Bride slammed for demanding fiancé wear contacts at wedding to hide genetic condition
A bride-to-be has been slammed online after telling her fiancé with heterochromia to wear contact lenses for their wedding photos so ‘his eye color would match’

A bride has found herself in hot water with people online after suggesting her fiancé change a large part of her appearance in preparation for their wedding photos.
The woman took to Reddit to ask if she was being unreasonable when she approached her fiancé about possibly wearing contact lenses when they get married because he has a genetic condition called heterochromia , meaning he has different colored eyes.
In his positionthe bride-to-be said it would be ‘nice’ if her partner – who has one blue eye and one brown eye – could have ‘matching’ eye colors in their wedding snaps, especially if it meant they could do match eye colors between them.
However, the suggestion left her fiancé “livid”.

She said: “My fiancé and I are planning to get married this summer. My fiancé has heterochromia which I obviously have no problem with, but I thought for our wedding photos it would be nice if he wore some contact lenses, so her eye color can match.
“I didn’t think he would mind my suggestion, but when I brought it to him he was livid.
“He told me he thought the color of his eyes didn’t bother me and I said of course it didn’t, but I would really appreciate it if he wore matching contact lenses. his eye color for the wedding photos. I said he might even match the eye color with mine, because I have blue eyes, while he has 1 blue eye and 1 brown eye.”
The woman said she thought her future husband was “overreacting” in being upset with her suggestion, and the couple now have a “bigger argument” than she had anticipated.
She added: “However, he was not at all receptive to my suggestion. I told him he was overreacting a lot, as I don’t want him to wear them all the time, just for our pictures. wedding. But that just led to a bigger fight and we ended up sleeping in different rooms last night.”
Commenters on the Reddit post were left baffled by the bride’s actions, as many couldn’t understand why she would want to change something about her partner that makes him unique.
One person said: “You say you don’t mind his eyes and yet you’re so ashamed you don’t want them in your wedding photos? If you can’t be happy next to him for who he is, you don’t deserve to stand next to him at all.”
While another added: “You’re asking him to change part of who he is so you can have ‘perfect’ wedding photos.”
And a third said: “If he does this all he will think when he sees these wedding photos is how his wife was so worried about their appearance that she didn’t care what I felt.
“How self-centered do you have to be to completely invalidate his feelings and call him sensitive?”
Heterochromia is quite rare and affects less than one percent of the population. The condition is often just a quirk caused by genes passed down from your parents.
