Guest lambasted on Reddit for wearing ‘tacky and disrespectful’ dress to wedding
A wedding guest has been labeled ‘tacky’, ‘disrespectful’ and ‘narcissistic’ for trying to ‘upstage’ the bride by showing up on her big day in a long white dress.
The photo of the woman in question appeared on social media showing her wearing an ivory-coloured dress with embroidery – as many took particular issue with her choice of outfit.

“She wasn’t the bride,” the caption read, alongside the photo.
Many expressed disapproval of the guest’s decision to wear a bridal-looking dress – while others pointed out that everyone knows the ‘don’t wear white’ rule at weddings.
“Honestly, it’s not just the color, it’s the whole style. If someone wore a plain white cocktail dress, it might be a slight misstep but not worthy of ridicule. It’s just a dress bride, nobody wears a dress like that except a bride and that’s what really makes her cringe,” one said.
While one added: ‘I witnessed this when the mother-in-law showed up two hours before, all the bridesmaids were asking the bride if they could spill wine on her and an hour later it happened, it was glorious.”
“Aunt Karen hit with red wine”
Meanwhile, many confessed what they would do to the guest if they were at the wedding.
“Forget being clumsy, I would have walked right up to her and thrown two glasses of red wine right over the dress,” one wrote.
Another wrote: ‘Everyone at this wedding would have talked or laughed at her, either behind her back or in front of her. Personally, I would have burst out laughing and directly asked why she was wearing a wedding dress at someone else’s wedding.
As one joked: ‘And that’s the day Aunt Karen was hit by a tsunami of red wine on a tragic bridesmaid trip and fall.’
But some said they wouldn’t even bother to confront her because she had already “humiliated” herself by breaking the dress code.
“Yeah, you don’t have to worry about spilling wine on these people, they’ve already done a complete *** on themselves. Everyone will remember it – no one will think ill of the bride,” one said.
“All that’s missing is the veil”
Another wrote: “I hope the bride was knocked out and everyone noticed how bad this lady looked in comparison.”
As one jokingly suggested, “All she’s missing is the veil.”
Another added: “My grandma wore a whiter than white dress to my parents wedding. She didn’t like my mother lol.
Some tried to downplay the situation, with one saying, “I know you’re not supposed to wear white to a wedding, but there was an emergency. The urgency was that I looked really good in white.
It’s unclear who the guest was or when the photo was taken, but it started circulating on Reddit on May 27.
