Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt have broken their silence on their very short-lived engagement.

The duo were Hollywood’s sexiest couple when they started dating in 1994, and even starred alongside each other as husband and wife in the critically acclaimed thriller Se7en. 1995.

Brad popped the question in 1996, but less than a year later they broke up, with Gwyneth later blaming his “immaturity” for the reason for their split.

Despite their split, the former couple still have a lot of affection for each other, and in a new interview for the Iron Man star’s Goop website, the friendly exes reflected on their relationship.

The 49-year-old Oscar-winning actress opened up about her late father Bruce, who died in 2002, as she revealed he approved of Brad and was thrilled to have him as his son-in-law.

“Although we didn’t get married, unfortunately,” she added.

“Right. Oh man, it all works out, doesn’t it?” Brad laughed.

“Yes. I finally found the Brad I was meant to marry. It just took me 20 years,” Gwyneth joked, referring to husband Brad Falchuk, whom she married in 2018.

“And it’s great to have you as a friend now,” Brad continued. “And I love you.”

“I love you so much,” Gwyneth replied sweetly.

The actor also praised his ex’s late father and said Bruce had “a profound effect on me and he’s someone I still think about.”

“That man was funny. He was funny. And you were so funny together, tearing up on the table, which was a rarity that I hadn’t experienced much, and I loved that,” Brad recalled.

After breaking up with Brad, the Shakespeare in Love star married Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in 2003, and the couple have two children: Apple, 18, and Moses, 16.

However, they separated in a “conscious uncoupling” in 2014, and Gwyneth married Brad Falchuk four years later.

Brad started dating Jennifer Aniston a year after splitting from Gwyneth, and the high-profile couple married in 2000, before quitting and filing for divorce five years later.

The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star later married Angelina Jolie, and the couple have six children: Shiloh, Zahara, twins Vivienne and Knox, Maddox and Pax.

They separated in 2016, after less than two years of marriage.
