Royal family: Kate Middleton’s most expensive £7,300 dress she’s only worn twice in public
The Duchess of Cambridge is known around the world for her incredible sense of style and unwavering dedication to her many important charities and patronages. The massive impact she has had on the fashion industry alone has been dubbed the “Kate Effect”, as anything she appears in usually sells out within minutes.
Catherine wowed the crowds in all of her recent public appearances. Whether she’s appearing in a long gold Jenny Packham gown for a glittering film premiere or arriving in London to present a fashion award, Catherine has her public image all the way.
While the Duchess has bought us many iconic and unforgettable looks, one of them has an incredibly high price tag and you definitely won’t guess which dress it is.

While the Duchess of Cambridge has repeatedly promised her normality by sticking with many high street chains, she is well known for having her favorite designers. One of Catherine’s top picks is Alexander McQueen and she has been photographed wearing his designs on numerous occasions.
From the baptism of Prince Louis to the Earthshot Prize to her famous wedding dress, the Duchess has chosen her outfits from the late designer’s collection time and time again. But there is a very expensive Alexander McQueen dress that Catherine recycled several times, when did she wear it?
The Duchess wore this jaw-dropping black and green floral dress for the first time at the BAFTA Awards in 2017. She completed the look with an elegant updo and wore an Alexander McQueen clutch. Known for recycling her outfits, she was later photographed wearing the dress again at the Portrait Gala in 2019. It was slightly reworked this time with sleeves that covered her shoulders, rather than thinner straps.
According to Harper’s Bazaar , the dress cost £7,304 – so we wonder if we’ll see the Duchess wearing it again soon. It’s one of the looks that adds to the Duchess of Cambridge’s reputation as one of the best-dressed royals.
Bethan Holt, fashion news and reporting director at The Telegraph, has previously praised her dress sense and explained why everything she wears sells out in minutes.
She said Harper’s Bazaar “She really lifted the image of the Royal Family… She’s this glamorous figure people want to know about and she helped secure the next generation of the British Royal Family.”
Holt continued, “She understands that if she wears something, it will have impact and have meaning. Not only does this enhance the message of what she is doing that day, but she also knows it draws more people to what she is doing.
“The sad truth of the world is that if she visits a charity and she wears a brand new dress that is really pretty, that photo will go around the world and a lot more people will know about the charity. That’s how the world works. She understands it and took it on board.”
Earlier this month, the Duchess arrived at the Design Museum in London to present the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design at an event organized by the British Fashion Council.
Catherine looked amazing in a £785 green dress by a London-based designer Edeline Lee. She opted for the Pedernal dress which is also available in a variety of other colors.
At the time, fans on social media expressed their love for the Duchess of Cambridge’s outfit. One user wrote: “She looks fabulous – the color is amazing on her.” Another fan pointed out her hair and wrote, “the hair is gorgeous.” A second fan asked, “Catherine is gorgeous! She might have a new hair color too!”
